DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF COLORADO? YES

Colorado does not pre-approve continuing education programs or sponsors and they do not have sponsorship agreements. They will accept courses from NASBA and NASBA-QAS sponsors. We are a registered sponsor with NASBA and NASBA-QAS and have issued credits in the state of Colorado without any problems.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

• The board requires 80 hours of CPE every 2 years.
• A minimum of 32 hours must be in "Code A" courses (see description below) including 2 hours of Ethics or CR&R. NOTE: If you are renewing you can take one of our general ethics courses (#4200, #4205, #4325 or #5140) or course #4000: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Colorado CPAs CR&R. However, if you are reactivating your license, you need to take #4000 (CR&R).

LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:

• Registrants shall register biennially on 5/31 of even-numbered years.

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

• CPE must be completed by 12/31 of the year prior to expiration and reported by 5/31 of the expiration year.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%

ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

Colorado Regulations state: "a specific program will qualify as acceptable continuing education if it is a formal program of learning which contributes to the growth in the professional knowledge and professional competence of a certificate holder" and "It will be left to each certificate holder to determine the course of study to be pursued."

Code A areas include: accounting and auditing, management consulting services, taxation, specialized industry accounting, accounting related to computer science, financial planning, ethics and CR&R.

Other acceptable areas of study may include, but are not restricted to: communication, quantitative methods, behavioral science, statistics and practice management.
