DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE? YES

Delaware accepts but no longer requires NASBA sponsorship approval. The Board will also accept CPE from QAS sponsors. PES is a member of the NASBA registry and the NASBA QAS sponsor list and have issued credits in Delaware without any problems.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

  • The board requires 80 hours of CPE every 2 years.
  • A minimum of 16 hours must be in the area of accounting and/or auditing.
  • A minimum of 16 hours must be in the area of taxation.
  • Licensees need to report 4 hours of a specific Board approved Delaware Ethics course. PES course #4410: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Delaware CPAs can be used to meet this requirement.

LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:

  • Registrants must register biennially on 6/30 of odd-numbered years. The next expiration date is 6/30/2009.

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

  • CPE must be completed on or preceding 6/30 of expiration year.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 30% or 24 credits per renewal period.

ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

Regulation States: "overriding consideration in determining if a specific program qualified as a continuing professional education program is if it is a formal program of learning which contributes directly to the professional competence of the permit holder."

Include, but are not limited to: Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Management Services, Mathematics, Statistics, Probability, Quantitative Applications in Business, Finance, Production and Marketing, Personnel Relations, Business Management and Organization, Computer Science, Communication Arts, Economics, Business Law, Social Environment of Business, Specialized Areas of Industry, Administrative Practice.
