DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA?
We are approved specifically by the board. Also, the board accepts (but does not require) courses from NASBA sponsors. PES is a registered sponsor with NASBA and has issued credits in DC without any problems.
LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:
- The board requires 80 hours of CPE every 2 years.
- 40 hours per year.
- Ethics Requirement: 4 hours of ethics every reporting period. PES has developed a specific DC ethics course which qualifies for this requirement: #4405: Ethics and Professional Conduct for District of Columbia CPAs.
- In addition, general ethics is acceptable - therefore PES courses #4200, #4205, and #4325 will meet all or part of this requirement. If you are dual licensed, you can fulfill the requirement through another state specific ethics requirement or through a combination of ethics courses (e.g. if you are also a Virginia licensee, you could take the VA ethics course for 2 credits and then #4200 for 2 credits)
LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:
- Registrant must register biennially by 12/31 on even years.
CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:
- CPE must be completed by 12/31 of renewal year.
SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:
Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time.
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:
A program shall qualify as acceptable if it meets the following standards:
- It is a formal program of learning which contributes directly to the growth in professional competence of an individual; and
- It is substantially equivalent to the minimum standards of the development and presentation and measurement and reporting set forth in the Statement of Standard for Formal Continuing Professional Education Programs adopted by the NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy).
