DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA?
All self-study CPE must be taken from sponsors registered with NASBA-QAS.
PES is a registered sponsor with NASBA-QAS. Our NASBA-QAS sponsorship number is #008. We have issued credits in Minnesota without any problems.
LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:
- 120 hours of CPE every 3 yrs (this is a "rolling calendar" - meaning that every June 30th, the licensee must show that they have completed 120 hours of CPE during the previous three fiscal years.)
- Minimum of 20 hours a year
- 8 hours of the 120 shall be in accounting or business ethics. First reporting date for this ethics requirement is 6/30/2006. PES course #5220/QAS5220: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Minnesota CPAs satisfies this requirement. In addition, PES general ethics courses #4200, #4205, and #4325 will meet part of this requirement.
- No more than 80% of reported CPE can be earned through self-study courses
- No more than 24 credits of CPE are allowed in the subject area of personal development
LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:
- Registrant must be register annually by 12/31.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:
QAS continuing education credits are calculated as: 1 credit per 50-minutes of study time. Professional Education Services QAS courses are granted in the same manner, therefore the number of credits listed and issued by PES is what will be accepted by the board of accountancy.
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 80%
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:
Minnesota Regulation States: "..if it is a program of learning that contributes to the growth in the professional knowledge and professional competence of a licensee. The program must meet the minimum standards of quality of development, presentation, measurement, and reporting of credits in the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs jointly approved by NASBA and AICPA or such other standards acceptable to the board.
