DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF OREGON? YES

The board requires that all self study or correspondence courses must be taken from sponsors approved as NASBA QAS (Quality Assurance Service) provider.

We are registered with NASBA-QAS and our sponsor number is #008.

All courses available on this website that have a corresponding QAS course number qualify for QAS CPE.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

  • The board requires 80 hours of CPE every 2 years.
  • A minimum of 24 hours per year.
  • A maximum of 16 hrs are allowed in non-technical areas per renewal period (but must still be QAS).
  • 4 hours of Professional Conduct and Ethics is required every 4 years. Course #QAS4800: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Oregon CPAs satisfies this requirement.

  • Registrant with odd numbered licenses must register biennially on 6/30 of every odd year.
  • Registrant with even numbered licenses must register biennially on 6/30 of every even year.

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

  • CPE must be completed and reported by 6/30 of expiration year.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

QAS continuing education credits are calculated as: 1 credit per 50-minutes of study time. Professional Education Services QAS courses are granted in the same manner, therefore the number of credits listed and issued by PES is what will be accepted by the board of accountancy.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%

ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

Regulations state: Technical subjects include: accounting; auditing and assurance; consulting specialized knowledge and applications; management; taxation, and professional ethics. Other subjects may be deemed acceptable if they maintain or improve the licensees' professional competence.

Subject matter other than those listed above are non-technical and limited to no more than 16 hours per renewal period and may be acceptable if the licensee can show that they contribute to the licensees professional competence. Subjects may include Interpersonal Management Skills, Public Relations, Practice Development, and Practice Administration.

The above lists are illustrative but not all inclusive. The responsibility for substantiating that a program is acceptable and meets the requirements rests solely with the licensee.
