DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA? YES

All self-study courses must be taken from sponsors approved as a NASBA QAS provider.

We are a registered QAS provider with NASBA. Our sponsor ID# is 008.

All courses available on this website that have a corresponding QAS course number qualify for QAS CPE.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

  • 40 hours of CPE per year,
  • Maximum 8 hours in personal development subjects (since QAS does not have a Personal Development area of study - personal development courses cannot be self-study and would have to be a live seminar presentation).

LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:

  • Calendar year 1/1 to 12/31

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

  • Completed by 12/31 annually

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

QAS continuing education credits are calculated as: 1 credit per 50-minutes of study time. Professional Education Services QAS courses are granted in the same manner, therefore the number of credits listed and issued by PES is what will be accepted by the board of accountancy.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%

ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

Regulation states: A person performing services of a professional nature needs to have a broad range of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Thus, the concept of professional competence should be interpreted broadly. Accordingly, programs contributing to the development and maintenance of non-technical professional skills should also be recognized as acceptable continuing education. Acceptable subjects may include accounting and auditing, consulting services, specialized knowledge and applications, management, personal development (Examples of courses included in this subject area are as follows: communication skills; management and the group process; interpersonal management skills; other personal development skills (such as memory skills, time management, stress management, goal setting, positive self image, effective writing, effective listening); public relations; and professional ethics), and taxation. Other subjects may also be acceptable if they maintain and/or increase the accounting professional's competence.
