DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE?
The Tennessee Board of Accountancy requires that all self-study correspondence courses be taken only from sponsors approved as a NASBA's QAS (Quality Assurance Service) provider.
PES is registered as a NASBA-QAS provider and our sponsor ID is #008.
PES has issued credits in Tennessee without any problems. All courses available on this website that have a corresponding QAS course number qualify for QAS CPE.
LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:
- 80 hour every 2 years
- 20 minimum per year
- A minimum of 40 of the 80 hours must be in the subject areas of: accounting (Code A on reporting form), accounting ethics (Code E on reporting form), attest (auditing) (Code A on reporting form), taxation (Code T on reporting form), or management advisory services (Code M on reporting form).
- 4 hours of Board approved state specific ethics CPE is required - this must include 1 hour of state specific ethics - PES course #4810/QAS4810: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Tennessee CPAs has been formally reviewed and approved by the Board of Accountancy and fulfills this requirement.
- If performing attest services (including compilations): 20 hours in the subject areas of attest and accounting theory (area A) must be completed in fulfilling the above requirement
- If providing expert witness testimony, 20 hours must be in the general area which the court deems the licensee an expert
LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:
- Registrant with odd license numbers must register biennially 12/31 every odd year.
- Registrant with even license number must register biennially 12/31 every even year.
CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:
- CPE must be completed and reported by 12/31 of license renewal year.
SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:
QAS continuing education credits are calculated as: 1 credit per 50-minutes of study time. Professional Education Services QAS courses are granted in the same manner, therefore the number of credits listed and issued by PES is what will be accepted by the board of accountancy.
