DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF VERMONT?
Vermont recognizes courses from NASBA sponsors. PES is a registered sponsor with NASBA and has issued credits in Vermont without any problems.
LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:
LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:
- Biennially 7/31/odd years. (Next expiration 7/31/2009.)
CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:
- CPE must be completed 1 month prior to expiration date; next due date is 6/30/2009.
SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:
Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time.
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS:
Registrant may claim up to 80% (or 64 hours)
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:
Regulation States: a program qualifies "if it is a formal course of learning which contributes to the growth of professional knowledge and competence of an individual in the practice of public accountancy and meets the minimum standards... of NASBA" (which PES courses do).
Acceptable Areas: accounting and auditing, taxation, management, information technology, ethics (AICPA Code of Conduct and Vermont regulations), mathematics, statistics, probability and quantitative applications in business, economics, business laws, functional fields of business, and specialized area of industry. It then states: "other areas may be acceptable if the applicant can demonstrate they contribute to their professional competence."
